The University of Piraeus ( Greek Πανεπιστήμιο Πειραιώς Panepistímio Pireós ) is a state university in the Greek port city of Piraeus .
The University of Piraeus goes back to the Piraeus Industrial School, founded in 1938, which was transferred to the Higher School for Industrial Studies in 1945 and was given the status of a university in 1989 as well as its current name.
