Efim Jourist
Efim Jourist (born January 13, 1947 in Kamjanez-Podilskyj ; † January 13, 2007 in Hamburg ) was a Ukrainian composer , accordionist and bayan player.
Life
Efim Jourist was born in Kamianets-Podilskyi . From 1966 he studied at the Gorki Music Academy , where he made the acquaintance of the composer Nikolai Tschaikin , which had a great influence on his musical development. After graduating in 1971, Jourist became a soloist in the Krasnoyarsk Philharmonic and began his international concert career.
In 1992 he moved with his family to Germany, where, in addition to solo appearances, he also played with the Efim Jourist Quartet at festivals such as the Rheingau Music Festival or the MDR Musiksommer. The quartet consists of bayan, violin, guitar and double bass and also forms the Efim Jourist Ensemble with marimba / vibraphone and drums . In addition to the arrangements mainly by Soviet composers for his ensembles, he composed for bayan and orchestra. Efim Jourist died of cancer in Hamburg exactly on his 60th birthday .
