Egbert Peters

Egbert Peters (born February 27, 1928 in Wiesbaden ; † March 28, 2011 ) was a German lawyer, professor of civil law, commercial law and civil procedural law.

Life

Peters, son of a surgeon, graduated from the Humanistic Gymnasium in Wiesbaden in 1947 and began studying law at the University of Mainz in the same year , completing the first state examination in law in 1951 . In 1952, he was with that of Rudolf Bruns supervised dissertation on the exercise of voting rights at nutznießungsbelasteten shares doctorate . After the second state examination in law in 1955, he was a department head at the Wiesbaden public prosecutor's office, then a consultant at the Hessian Ministry of Justice, where he was entrusted with the adjustment of Hessian state law. In 1959 he moved to the University of Marburg and became a research assistant to his academic teacher Bruns. In 1962 he completed his habilitation with the work The so-called free evidence in civil proceedings . On October 1, 1966, he became professor for civil procedural law and civil law at the University of Kiel . He also worked as a part-time judge at the Kiel Regional Court. On October 1, 1979, he moved to the University of Tübingen , where he taught until his retirement in 1993. Since the 1980s he has made a name for himself in exchanges with Poland (Poznan and Warsaw). Peters was married and had two children.
