Eggert Knuth-Winterfeldt

Eggert Christian Flemming Knuth-Winterfeldt (born May 3, 1912 in San José ; † April 4, 1978 ) was a Danish chemist and professor of metallurgy at Denmark's Technical University .

Life

Eggert Knuth-Winterfeldt was born as the fourth of four children of bank director Viggo Christian Knuth-Winterfeldt and his wife Clara Augusta Ingeborg Knuth-Winterfeldt, née Grüner. He came from the Knuth - Winterfeldt family , a line of the Mecklenburg-Danish noble family Knuth. His brothers were the painter Preben and the diplomat Kjeld Gustav .

In 1930 Knuth-Winterfeldt began his studies at the University of Roskilde , which he liked in 1935. scient. graduated in chemistry. In 1936 he became a research assistant at Denmark's Technical University. In 1953 he was promoted to Dr. techn. PhD. Knuth-Winterfeldt studied Swedish ironworks and also came to Germany, England and the United States on his study trips. From January 1, 1959 to January 31, 1975 he was rector of his university and Denmark's engineering academy . He was also vice-president of Selskabet for metalforskning from 1949 to 1953 and president from 1953 to 1959 as well as chairman of Selskabet for analytisk kemi from 1951 to 1952. In 1958 Knuth-Winterfeldt was a member of the Akademiet for de tekniske Videnskaber.
