Egholm is a Danish island in the Limfjord near the city of Aalborg . The island has a size of 600 hectares and is permanently inhabited by 40 residents (January 1, 2020). The island belongs to the parish municipality ( Danish : Sogn ) Vesterkær Sogn , which until 1970 belonged to Harde Kær Herred in what was then Aalborg Amt , then to Aalborg Kommune in what was then Nordjyllands Amt , which became part of the "new" with the municipal reform on January 1, 2007 Aalborg municipality in the region of Nordjylland has risen.

Egholm ferry

The island is connected to Aalborg by the Egholm ferry ( Danish: Egholmfærgen ). The crossing takes five minutes.

In the future, the third Limfjord connection will run across the island, which will reach the island through a tunnel from the south and continue to the north via a bridge. Construction is scheduled to start in 2024.
