Egidijus Bieliūnas

Egidijus Bieliūnas (born December 13, 1950 in Panevėžys ) is a Lithuanian lawyer, criminal lawyer , criminologist and judge at the General Court of the European Union .

Life

In 1973 he completed his law degree at the University of Vilnius and obtained his doctorate in 1978 from the University of Moscow on the subject of " Crime and its causes in Lithuania".

From 1969 to 1974 he was a technician in the Laboratory for Criminology at the University of Vilnius, from 1977 to 1989 assistant, high school professor and lecturer at the Department of Criminal Law. From 1992 to 1996 he was consul and advisor to the Lithuanian embassy in Belgium and France , from 1994 to 1996 advisor in France, from 1996 to 1999 member of the European Commission for Human Rights , and from 1999 to 2011 judge at the Supreme Court of Lithuania . In 2011 he was elected as a candidate for President Dalia Grybauskaitė by the parliament, the Seimas , as judge at the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Lithuania . Since September 2013 he has been a judge at the General Court of the European Union .

Egidijus Bieliūnas is married. He and his wife have a son and a daughter.
