Egidio Caporello

Egidio Caporello (born June 3, 1931 in Padua , Italy ) is Bishop Emeritus of Mantua .

Life

Egidio Caporello was ordained a priest on July 10, 1955 and was incardinated in the clergy of the Diocese of Padua .

Pope John Paul II appointed him titular bishop of Caprulae and general secretary of the Italian Bishops' Conference on July 24, 1982 . The Archbishop of Turin , Cardinal Anastasio Alberto Ballestrero OCD , donated him episcopal ordination on September 19 of the same year ; Co -consecrators were Archbishop Filippo Franceschi , Bishop of Padua, and Girolamo Bartolomeo Bortignon OFMCap , Bishop Emeritus of Padua.

He was appointed Bishop of Mantua on June 28, 1986, and was introduced to the office on September 7 of the same year.

On July 13, 2007, Pope Benedict XVI. his resignation request submitted for reasons of age.
