Egon Boldt

Egon Jani Boldt (born May 22, 1926 in Hamburg-Bergedorf ; † January 18, 2003 in Reinbek near Hamburg) was the son of Heinrich Boldt and Anna Boldt, born in Hungary. Farkas. He was chairman of the German postal union in Hamburg-Bergedorf, chairman of the German trade union federation in Bergedorf and chairman (president) of the Bergedorf district assembly . On September 17, 1984 , the Federal President Richard von Weizsäcker awarded him the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany .

Egon Boldt grew up in the former Sande (today Hamburg-Lohbrügge ). After finishing school, he started an apprenticeship at Eisenwaren Zieske, which he had to break off due to the outbreak of war. In 1941 he took up training at Deutsche Post , which was interrupted by his entry as a marine. After being taken prisoner in Aumühle (near Hamburg), he continued his training at Deutsche Post in 1947 and became a civil servant.

At a young age he was involved in the German Postal Union. In 1958 he was elected chairman of the Deutsche Postgewerkschaft in Hamburg-Bergedorf, of which he was chairman until he retired in 1988. In 1963 he became a member of the local administrative board of the Deutsche Postgewerkschaft in Hamburg. In 1967 he was elected deputy chairman of the local cartel of the German Federation of Trade Unions in Hamburg-Bergedorf. His years of union involvement led him to chair the German Trade Union Confederation in Bergedorf in 1982, which he held until 1992. During this period he was also a member of the district executive committee of the German Federation of Trade Unions in Hamburg.

In 1965 Egon Boldt joined the SPD . In 1974 he moved into the Bergedorf district assembly as a member of the SPD. In 1978 the SPD parliamentary group of the district assembly elected him deputy parliamentary group chairman. After the election to the district assembly in June 1982, in which the SPD lost the majority in parliament, Egon Boldt was deputy chairman of the Bergedorf district assembly until the new election in December 1982. After the new elections in December 1982, in which the SPD regained a majority, Egon Boldt was elected chairman of the Bergedorf district assembly. In the district assembly elections in November 1986, the SPD lost its majority in the district assembly to the CDU. From then on Egon Boldt was again Deputy Chairman of the Bergedorf District Assembly. After the renewed election to the district assembly in May 1987, in which the SPD again gained a majority in the district parliament, Egon Boldt was elected chairman of the Bergedorf district assembly. He held this office for several legislative terms until September 1997. From 1982 to 1997 he worked with the district office managers Jörg König (SPD) and Christine Steinert (SPD). In September 1997 Egon Boldt resigned from the Bergedorf district parliament for reasons of age.

Egon Boldt was married and had two sons and five grandchildren.
