Egon Erzum

Egon Erzum (born September 22, 1904 in Prökuls / Memelland , † October 14, 1974 in Leutershausen / Middle Franconia ) was a German politician ( GB / BHE , CSU ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school , Erzum studied philosophy and law in Dorpat and Riga . In addition to his studies, he joined the police administration in Memelland in 1925, where he was most recently the commander of a police school. From 1928 to 1930 he attended war school. He was a lieutenant colonel in the Wehrmacht in World War II and was used as a battalion and regimental commander in Eastern Europe and Italy. Towards the end of the war he was captured by the Americans, from which he was released to Bavaria. Until 1948 he worked as a worker in a sawmill.

politics

Erzum was a co-founder of the Federation of Expellees and Disenfranchised (BHE) in 1950 and became its executive chairman in the district of Ansbach and member of the district board for Middle Franconia. He belonged to the district council of Ansbach and was chairman of the BHE parliamentary group there. From 1954 to 1958 he was a member of the Bavarian State Parliament . After leaving the state parliament, he joined the CSU and became its full-time managing director for the area of ​​the Bundestag constituency of Ansbach . From 1962 to 1965 he was mayor of Leutershausen .
