Egon Forever!

Under the name Egon Forever! Satirical cartoons and comics by the illustrator Andre Lux appear regularly on a website specially set up for this purpose, in pop culture magazines and books . The drawings are minimalistic and consist exclusively of stick figures, which are made in one color on a checkered background. According to Lux, the original drawings are sold online and at conventions .

The name "Egon Forever!" Refers to the original main character Egon, who is shown as a stick figure without hair or other special features. Right from the start, the aim was “to make a strong statement with as little effort as possible”. Andre Lux invented this in 1994, at the age of 11. In 1994 he published his first drawings in a magazine that was circulating in the schoolyard in his secondary school in Wildberg . He then sold the work he had copied for 30 pfennigs. Lux drew Egon and other characters like Franco for over 20 years. In the meantime, Egon and his counterpart Franco rarely appear in comics and cartoons. The focus is more on social criticism, typical everyday situations and daily political events. The illustrator Andre Lux is particularly inspired by the punk and hardcore punk movement, to which he feels he belongs.

Publications

Since November 2014 Andre Lux has published his satirical cartoons monthly in the pop culture magazine INTRO and every other month in the punk rock magazine OX . In March 2016 his first comic and cartoon collection “This is an Egon Forever! Cartoonbuch ”published by Ventil Verlag in Mainz . Egon Forever! Cartoons used on other platforms such as Spiegel Online, in Eulenspiegel magazine and in the Titanic . His strips are also spread on the Internet via their own Facebook page and various blogs .

Lux regularly exhibits his drawings, gives live readings via Powerpoint presentations or can be found as a draftsman at comic conventions. In various printed cartoon collections such as The Great Cartoonsutra or The World's Best Word Jokes are exclusive Egon Forever! Find drawings by Andre Lux.

In October 2018 Andre Lux started together with Tobias Vogel (alias "War and Friday") under the name "Forever! Friday “a podcast. In December 2019, LARS - Der Agenturdepp, Andre Lux's first graphic novel in the Egon Forever! Style was published.

Especially in fanzines and punk lifestyle blogs, “This is an Egon Forever! Cartoon book “Positive Reviews. The underdog fanzine says about Egon Forever! : "Andre knows how to create a comic situation in a condensed form, which is mainly not due to the stick figure drawing, but because of the pun in the visual language that superimposes the reduced style of drawing." And the Intro Magazine writes in a nine-line short notice : “It is more successful than anything else in the world. (..) If you don't laugh, you should feel your pulse. Perhaps passed away unnoticed. ”Schallhafen.de writes:“ Lux doesn't have to try to convey humor through elaborate drawings, that happens mostly through the stories themselves, where you ask yourself time and time again: How do you come up with it and how he got to the heart of the matter so precisely? ".
