Egon von Wangenheim

Egon Freiherr von Wangenheim (born January 10, 1899 in Berlin ; † December 13, 1968 in Ostercappeln ) was a German politician ( CDU ) and a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament .

Life

After graduating from high school in World War I , Wangenheim joined the military and was an active participant in the war from 1916 to 1918, most recently with the rank of officer. After retiring from military service, he completed an agricultural training course in Pomerania and worked as an administrator. He worked for the industrial bank and the Zentral-Bodenkredit AG as goods director and trustee since 1930. At the same time he worked in various business associations and state authorities as a member of the board of directors or as an expert. At the beginning of the Second World War he was called up again as an officer in the reserve. He was briefly captured by the Americans , from which he was released in 1945. He then worked until 1950 as a farm manager and for the Weser / Ems Chamber of Agriculture as an expert in the Wittlage district . Eventually he became a partner in a knitwear factory .

After 1945, Wangenheim became involved in the expellees' movement at regional and state level . He founded a CDU district association and took over its chairmanship from 1947. He was elected to the district council and also took over the chairmanship there.

From November 6, 1957 to May 5, 1959, he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament (3rd electoral period). He worked from April 10, 1958 to May 5, 1959 as chairman of the Zone Boundary Committee. After November 6, 1957 he was a member of the DP / CDU parliamentary group.

He was married and had four children.
