The former Jagdhof (also: Yellow House ) is a building in Darmstadt .
Architecture and history
The former hunting lodge was within the old suburb at the Jägertor . A hunting farm was mentioned at this point as early as 1556. The building , built around 1600, has been rebuilt several times. The building was later used as a hospital . The structure was badly damaged in an air raid in 1944. In the post-war period it was rebuilt true to the original.
The street front is evenly divided by eight window axes. The ground floor is emphasized by slightly higher windows. The yellow plastered facade is striking . A simple hipped roof forms the upper end of the two-story, eaves-standing house .
Monument protection
For architectural and city history reasons, the former Jagdhof is a cultural monument .
The Jagdhof today
Until 2014, the former Jagdhof housed institutes of the Technical University of Darmstadt . The building has belonged to EKHN since 2014 . After the renovation, the building will be used by ESG .
