Drawing from the building files from 1895

The former town hall at Hauptstrasse 7 in Sontheim was built as a residential building in 1895 and converted into a town hall in 1905. The ground floor is horizontally structured in the neo-renaissance style and the upper floor shows the character of a country house through the decorative visible framework. The house is a listed building.

history

From 1805 until it was incorporated into Heilbronn in 1938, Sontheim was an independent political municipality and had its own administrative center. Until 1910, this administrative seat was below the Catholic St. Martins Church. In 1905, the building at Hauptstrasse 7, built in 1895 in the Heimat style by foreman August Eckert from Sontheim, was converted into the administrative headquarters, also based on plans by Eckert.

The original construction plan from 1895 provided for a floating gable in the Swiss house style with an open space of the Swiss farmhouse architecture , comparable to the Ackermann director's villa in Kolpingsstraße 3. In 1896, the corresponding house Mändle was built diagonally across from the building at Hauptstraße 8, also in exposed brick construction in visible framework according to plans by the house architect of the twisting mill Ackermann , Theodor Moosbrugger .

description

The ground floor of the building is made of bricks and edged with sandstone pilaster strips at the corners . The first floor was designed as a half-timbered structure . The building has a stair tower with the main entrance on the side and a central risalit on the street side , which has a wooden balcony on the first floor. The pyramidal hipped roof on the risalits is reminiscent of the style of medieval castle towers. For decoration, a triangular dormer with a round clock was placed in the roof of the risalits . The slate spire is crowned by a roof turret for a bell.
