Eichelberg is a district of Östringen in the district of Karlsruhe in Baden-Württemberg .

history

The municipality of Eichelberg was incorporated into Östringen on January 1, 1972. Until it was incorporated, Eichelberg was part of the Sinsheim district . In Eichelberg currently 708 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2017) live on 673 hectares. In the village traditional viticulture was practiced, the wine press of the village has been documented since the middle of the 16th century.

The photographer Wilhelm Boppel was born in Eichelberg in 1841 .

geography

Extensive deciduous forests take up about a third of the municipal area. Through the core city Östringen the free stream flows, the districts of Tiefenbach and Odenheim be from Katz Bach traversed. The highest elevations are the Kasperhäusel and Tannenbaum tubs near Östringen, the Kapellenberg near Eichelberg, the Schindelberg near Odenheim and the Kreuzberg near Tiefenbach. The total area is between 155 and 302 meters above sea level.

The following cities and municipalities border the city of Östringen, they are named starting in clockwise direction in the east: Eppingen (Heilbronn district), Kraichtal , Ubstadt-Weiher , Bad Schönborn (all Karlsruhe districts), Mühlhausen , Angelbachtal and Sinsheim (all Rhein-Neckar- Circle).

Attractions

In Eichelberg the local town hall is on foundations from 1604, the neighboring wine press has been in existence since 1556. The Catholic Church of St. Jakobus is from 1711. The town's schoolhouse from around 1900 is still striking, and an old one that has existed since 1700 is nearby Draw well stands. Opposite is a contemporary village fountain. Several crucifixes can be seen in the village, including a modern one from 1963 on the way to the simple Michael's chapel above the village.
