Eichfeld (Arnstadt)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Eichfeld is a desert near Arnstadt in Thuringia .

Eichfeld is located west of Arnstadt , halfway to Bittstädt . The plateau between the two places is still called this today. Some field names also indicate the existence of the place.

The place was first mentioned in 1273 as Eychenveld . Later spellings are Eychinveld (1322), Eychfeild (1417) and Eychefeldt (1533). A document from 1322 reports that knight Friedrich von Witzleben on the Elgersburg bequeathed the village of Eichfeld along with 11 Hufen land to the Jungfrauenkloster in Arnstadt. Eichfeld had its own pastor until 1533 . After that, the place was filial by Espen field supervised. Nothing precise is known about the sinking of Eichfeld. 1616 one was on the ruins Vorwerk built. Since the tenants committed themselves to cultivating sheep in addition to cultivating the fields, the Vorwerk was also known as the sheepfold . The Vorwerk then met the same fate as Eichfeld and it went desolate. After that, wall remains and loose stone piles remained until the end of the 18th century .

Today nothing can be seen of the former Eichfeld.
