The Eigerøy bru ( German  Eigerøybrücke ) is a two-lane road bridge over the Nysund between the island of Eigerøya and the mainland near the town of Egersund in the municipality of Eigersund in the province of Rogaland , Norway .

The girder of prestressed concrete was on 20 August 1951 by the then Crown Prince and later King Olav V opened. It is 260 m long. The middle arch over the Nysund has a span of 40 m and a headroom of 23.75 m. The bridge carries highway 42 from Egersund on the mainland to the island of Eigerøya with its industrial and port facilities. Since the traffic has increased considerably since its inauguration, an expansion has been discussed for years.

During the construction of the bridge, 5,100 m 2 of formwork , 1,300 m 3 of concrete and 121.5 tons of reinforcing steel were used . The bridge was one of the first two bridges in Norway to be built with prestressed concrete girders. Some of the carriers were supposed to be used by the German occupying forces to build submarine bunkers during World War II . However, the war was over before these components could be used.
