Eike Kiltz
Eike Kiltz (* 1975 ) is a German mathematician in the field of cryptology and currently professor at the Ruhr University Bochum .
life and career
Kiltz studied 1995-2001 mathematics at the Ruhr-University Bochum (RUB) and received his doctorate there in 2004. He then conducted research as a post-graduate student for one year at the University of San Diego . From 2005 to 2010 he was a member of the cryptology group at the Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica in Amsterdam . In 2010, Kiltz was awarded the Sofja Kovalevskaja Prize for theoretical computer science . With the prize money of 1.65 million euros, he returned to the RUB and took on a W2 professorship for cryptology and IT security at the Horst Görtz Institute for Information Security . Kiltz's research focus is on the theoretical foundations of asymmetric encryption methods . The aim of his research is to improve the processes in such a way that, in contrast to today's public key processes such as the RSA cryptosystem , they are also secure against the use of the possible computing power of quantum computers .
In 2014, Kiltz received a grant from the European Research Council of 1.8 million euros for the continuation of his research .
