A Columbus on the Havel is the title of a children's book by Peter Abraham .

It was first published in 1975 by Kinderbuchverlag Berlin , the illustrations are by Eberhard Binder-Staßfurt . In 2006 the book was reissued by the Leipzig publishing house Faber & Faber in the series Our children's book classics .

action

Father Oskar buys an old sailing boat called Pütz and wants to sail with his daughter Marianne, called Nannerl. Mother Gerda, known as "Doctor", would rather go on vacation in a hotel in Bratislava , but her mind was changed. During the summer holidays, as complete beginners, they go on a trip on the Havel to the Bolter Canal on the Müritz . The father tells seafaring stories. The family has some adventures, e.g. B. a lock trip, a leak in the boat and a storm. Nannerl meets the boy Mischa, who is also on a boat trip with his family.

Adaptation

The book was filmed in 1978 by the GDR television station, directed by Hans Kratzert with Ursula Werner , Kurt Böwe and Dieter Wien (78 min).
