Einar Hanson , in three US films as Einar Hansen (born June 16, 1899 in Stockholm , † June 3, 1927 in Santa Monica , California , United States ) was a Swedish silent film actor in Sweden, Germany and the United States.

Live and act

Hanson began his short but intense career , which lasted less than ten years, at the end of the First World War at the dramatist in his hometown Stockholm, the most important theater in his country , without having a professional acting training . There he was discovered for the film and brought in front of the camera at the turn of 1918/19 with a small role in a Strindberg film adaptation. Star director Mauritz Stiller gave him the leading role of Gunnar Hede in his Lagerlöf film adaptation of the Herrenhof saga in 1922 , with which Hanson achieved the breakthrough to the Swedish screen star . After further roles in Swedish productions, Hanson reached Berlin in the second half of 1924, where he received another leading role in Richard Oswald's production of Rags and Silk .

In spring 1925, he and his compatriot Greta Garbo appeared in front of the camera in GW Pabst's legendary Viennese drama Die joudlose Gasse . Both the Garbo and Hanson were then committed to Hollywood to be built up to new cinema stars. Greta Garbo's rise to the new superstar came off very quickly, and Hanson's career in US silent film - initially under the slightly different spelling Einar Hansen - initially got off to a good start under the umbrella of Paramount Pictures . He shot film on film in 1926 and 1927 and was the partner of such illustrious stars as Clara Bow and, most recently, Pola Negri (even though he was only allowed to play the second male lead on several occasions). Hanson's career came to an abrupt end when he was killed in a traffic accident on the California coastal road near Topanga Canyon in early June 1927.
