Einar Ralf
Einar Christian Ralf (born July 24, 1888 in Vrigstad ; † September 27, 1971 in Stockholm ) was a Swedish opera singer (tenor), composer, conductor and arranger.
Life
Ralf became cantor at the Katharinenkirche in Stockholm in 1921 ; from 1940 to 1954 he lectured choral conducting and singing at the local music college. As a choir director, Ralf conducted the University Choir Stockholms Studentsångare (1917–1967) and the Stockholm Radio Choir (1939–1952), where Eric Ericson was his successor. In 1937 he was appointed to the Royal Swedish Music Academy and in 1960 received an honorary doctorate in philosophy from Stockholm University .
Ralf's best-known works include settings of Swedish translations from the Carmina Burana .
His brothers were the opera singers Oscar Ralf (1881–1964) and Torsten Ralf (1901–1954).
