Introduction to Electronics was in 1972 a television broadcast by WDR on the subject of electrics and electronics .

Concept of broadcast

In view of the upheavals in the field of electrics and electronics in the 1960s - semiconductor technology replaced relays and tube technology - the program moderated by Jean Pütz attempted to present the relevant facts and new developments in a comprehensible way for non-academics as well. This was done using models and film recordings from practice. The target group were young, technically interested viewers.

The audience rating was high for a third program. An accompanying book was published for the broadcast, which, including a paperback edition, had a circulation of over 700,000.

The following transmission concepts

As a result of the positive response to the show and many inquiries from viewers, the idea of adding a do-it-yourself series to an introduction to electronics arose. The concept of the Hobbythek , also moderated by Jean Pütz, emerged , in which many elements of tinkering with electronics were integrated.
