Entry by the Economic Policy Association Frankfurt am Main

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The submission of the Economic Policy Association Frankfurt am Main was a letter that the Economic Policy Association Frankfurt am Main addressed to Reich President Paul von Hindenburg on July 17, 1931 at the height of the German banking crisis, requesting that the government be transferred to the NSDAP . The letter was forwarded to Hindenburg with an accompanying letter dated July 24, 1931 from Rüdiger Graf von der Goltz , a former Free Corps leader and member of the United Patriotic Associations .

Signatory

The signatories were:

Not a single one of the ten signatories was a major industry representative. Rather, most of them were small and medium-sized enterprises and members of middle management.

Evaluation in research

The historical scholarship of the GDR cited the submission (similar to the industrialists' submission of November 1932) as evidence that large-scale industry had made a decisive contribution to the appointment of Hitler as Chancellor . To this end, the functions, had some of the signatories, has also been upgraded falsely Wilhelm Traupel was here as a representative Gustav Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach called, although he by many in the Group as an authorized agent only responsibility for the sale of agricultural machinery contributed and Krupp had always kept his distance from the National Socialists until 1933. A few weeks after his signing, the staunch National Socialist Traupel moved from the heavy industrial group to the management of the NSDAP's own "Frankfurter Volksblatt". Hans Geisow figured in Marxist research as a representative of the powerful IG Farben company - in truth he was only employed there as a chemist until 1931 . At the time of submission, he was the full-time head of the popular education department in the Gau leadership of the NSDAP Hessen-Nassau.

An influence on Hindenburg through writing, which did not correspond to the goals of the great majority of the large German industrialists, cannot be determined.
