The Railway Museum Nässjö ( Swedish Nässjö Järnvägsmuseum ) is located at Brogatan 10 in Nässjö in the historical province of Småland in southern Sweden .

Nässjö is the only Swedish city where six railway lines converge. The museum consists of a train station where numerous locomotives and wagons can be viewed, including several steam locomotives . The main building of the museum is called Ångsågen ( German  steam saw ). An exhibition can be seen on the museum grounds showing the development of the railroad in and around Nässjö.

Special trips

The museum organizes various special trips, often pulled by an express train locomotive. The vehicle material dates from the 1960s. Non-electrified routes are operated with steam or diesel locomotives .

Locomotives

The exhibited include the Z43 200 diesel locomotive , the Kalmar Järnvägar H4 17 , which the SJ initially operated as the A4 1545 after the takeover in 1940 and as the SJ A5 1545 from 1943. The locomotive Nässjö – Oskarshamn No. 33 , built by NOHAB in Trollhättan , was operated by the SJ after the takeover in 1946 under L5 1778 . In addition, include a narrow-gauge - steam memory locomotive and a steam car from 1888, a company car , and more locomotives on the exhibits.

The express train locomotive Ra 987 built in 1961 , which is often used for special trips, and the Ub 255 , a shunting locomotive , are part of the E-Locomotive collection of the Railway Museum. In addition, the museum owns, among other things, the T21 89 , which was previously used on the inland railway , the structurally identical SJ 21 110 as well as four small shunting locomotives , a company vehicle from 1925 and a motorized trolley .

Passenger cars

There are ten express train passenger cars from the 1960s that are used for the special trains.
