The 1970/71 season of the Austrian ice hockey league was the third staging of this second division below the Bundesliga . The WAT Stadlau became champions of the upper league and qualified for the Bundesliga.

The game was played in two groups (east / west) in which the teams met each other twice. The best three teams from the two groups then played against each other twice in the promotion group for a Bundesliga place.
