The 2006/07 season of the Austrian ice hockey league was played with six teams. The defending champion was the UEC "The Dragons" Mödling , which was able to maintain its championship this season.
The ATSV "Vorwärts" Steyr and the ice hockey section of ATUS Weiz joined the four clubs from the previous year. The basic round was played as a double round trip, after half of the championship the points were halved. The best four teams qualified for the playoff, semi-finals and finals were played in the best of three mode. The championship began on October 21, 2006.
For the first time this season, the judges counted the shots on goal in order to be able to determine the catch quota of the goalkeepers as in the two top leagues . However, since this was not carried out consistently from the start, the relevant statistics for this season are incomplete.
