The 1994/95 season of the Austrian ice hockey league was played with a total of twelve teams and represented the second division below the Bundesliga as a replacement for the national league that was not played . The defending champion from last year's national league season was the EV Innsbruck , but this year did not take part in the league. The new champion was the DSG Rotschitzen .
The last champions of the actual third division league were the clubs Grazer SV (East) and EC Ehrwald (West) in the 1979/80 season .
Participant and mode
Since the structure of the leagues in Austrian ice hockey had been changed again, the second division was canceled in the 1994/95 season. Most of the teams had moved up to the Bundesliga in order to enlarge the field of participants, which last consisted of only four teams. The EC Kitzbühel and the UEC Mödling did not follow the promotion and now competed with some teams from the national leagues in the newly formed Oberliga.
The clubs initially played a double round-trip round in two groups of five teams each. This was followed by a championship round, in which the equally placed teams from both groups competed against each other in a return game to determine the final placement.
