career

German championship 1959

The 19-year-old striker Eckehard Feigenspan moved in 1954 from FC Nieder-Wöllstadt to the black and whites of VfB Friedberg in the 1st amateur league Hessen. After just one season in the Hessenliga, he received a contract offer from Eintracht Frankfurt and moved to the Oberliga Süd in 1955 . Already on the second match day, in the 5-3 away win at the Stuttgarter Kickers , he made his debut in the league. Together with Erich Bäumler , Hans Weilbächer , Richard Kreß and Alfred Pfaff , he formed the storm of unity. In total, he came in his first round 1955/56 with the Elf vom Riederwald on 13 missions with five goals. In his fourth season at Eintracht, 1958/59, the coach Paul Oßwald , who came from Kickers Offenbach , led the Frankfurt team to the South German championship and thus also made it to the final round of the 1959 German soccer championship . "Ekko" Feigenspan had contributed 21 goals in 27 games to this success as a center forward with strong headers. In the final round, the Oßwald-Elf prevailed with six wins against Werder Bremen , against FK Pirmasens and 1. FC Köln and thus made it into the final. The 24-year-old fig chip was in top form during the finals. In the group games he scored nine goals. In the 5-3 final success after extra time on June 28, 1959 in Berlin against local rivals Kickers Offenbach, three more hits followed. Framed by the offensive players Richard Kreß, István Sztani , Alfred Pfaff and Dieter Lindner , he was able to play his scoring danger. After winning the championship title, the center forward moved to TSV 1860 Munich because he wanted to continue studying mechanical engineering. Feigenspan had scored 52 goals for Eintracht in 79 league games.

1860 Munich and Rot-Weiss Essen, 1959 to 1967

National coach Sepp Herberger tested "Ekko" Feigenspan on October 3 and November 8, 1959 twice in the national B team at the international matches against Switzerland and Hungary, but since he did it with the "Lions" in the three rounds up to 1962 never made a regular player, there were no further appointments by the DFB. With Alfred Hot , Hans Küppers , Rudi Brunnenmeier and Johann Auernhammer , coach Max Merkel had outstanding strikers available, so that Feigenspan moved in the summer of 1962 after 41 league appearances with 20 goals in the west to Rot-Weiss Essen in the 2nd league west . In the last year of the old league system (league football, 2nd leagues), RWE came in sixth and was thus qualified for the new Regionalliga West for the 1963/64 season. After finishing 10th and 7th in 1964 and 1965, Essen moved up to 2nd place in the 1965/66 season with coach Fritz Pliska and thus moved into the promotion round to the Bundesliga . Fortuna Düsseldorf won the championship in the west and Alemannia Aachen landed in third place . In the three rounds in the Regionalliga Feigenspan had scored 34 goals in 80 games for the Elf from Hafenstraße. In the promotion round, the red-whites prevailed with 8: 4 points against the tied FC St. Pauli . In four out of six games, the 31-year-old fig chip was actively involved in Essen. On the offensive, the other attackers Heinz-Dieter Hasebrink , Willi Koslowski , Willi Lippens , Helmut Littek and Herbert Weinberg ensured the rise . On the first day of the Bundesliga season 1966/67, on August 20, 1966, Feigenspan played his only game that season for Essen. RWE lost the game at MSV Duisburg with 2-0 goals and "Ekko" formed the defender pair with Adolf Steinig . In the summer of 1967 Feigenspan moved back to the amateur camp and let his career end with SSVg Velbert .
