In 1998, this 13-part series continued the story of the OVA series on Japanese television. Most of the time she doesn't play in El Hazard itself, but in another parallel world.

The opening credits used by Fence of Defense were 13-gatsu no Shukumei ( 13 d の 革命 , dt. "Revolution of the 13 months"), except for the final episode Kami-sama ga Kureta Hi ( 神 様 が く れ た 日 , Eng. "A day coming from God") by Sora Izumikawa and in the last Love Mania! by Maaya Sakamoto , Rio Natsuki , Etsuko Kozukura , Kyōko Tsuruno .

In 2004 Trimax released a DVD with the first two parts of this series. In 2007 an edition of this DVD was published, declared as a collection box, followed by the DVD with parts 3–6, which was also declared as a collection box. Both versions were published as El Hazard without taking into account that the first OVA was also published as El Hazard. Trimax thus continued the trend of Anime-Virtual, which had also omitted the subtitle in their DVD edition. So there are 3 different series in German, all of which run under the same name. In addition, Trimax changed many of the names known from the previous series in its version. Episodes 7-13 were not published.

universe

The starting world for the trip to El Hazard is located in the same universe in which Tenchi Muyo! plays. Characters from El Hazard have cameos in Tenchi Muyo! and there are hidden references to Tenchi Muyo in some El Hazard episodes ! . For example, the teacher Mr. Fujisawa appears in some Tenchi in Tokyo episodes as the teacher of Tenchi Muyo and Ryoko and Tenchi are depicted on a magazine cover in one of the later episodes of the 26-part television series.

Hiroki Hayashi was the series director responsible for both original OVA series .
