El Páramo is a spit ( peninsula ) around 10 kilometers long in the Argentine part of Tierra del Fuego . It is located on Isla Grande near the town of San Sebastián .
El Páramo's gold-bearing sand deposit was exploited by Julio Popper between 1886 and 1893 .
