El Periódico de Catalunya ('The Newspaper of Catalonia'), usually called El Periódico forshort, is a daily newspaper that is distributed throughout Catalonia and belongs to the Grupo Zeta publishing house. It appears in Barcelona , represents a social-liberal to socialist line and has a circulation of around 200,000 copies (2008). This makes itthe daily newspaper with the second highest circulation in the regionafter La Vanguardia . El Periódico appears in two editions, one in Spanish and one in Catalan .
Editor-in-chief has been Enric Hernández since February 2010, followed by Rafael Nadal . For 2007 the newspaper received the European Newspaper Award in the “Regional Newspapers ” department for the best newspaper design.
