The Eldred Point is an ice-covered headland at the Ruppert Coast of the West Antarctic Marie Byrd lands . It marks the western flank of the mouth of the Land Glacier in Land Bay .
The United States Geological Survey mapped it using its own surveys and aerial photographs of the United States Navy from 1959 to 1965. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the headland in 1972 after David Thomas Eldred (1937-2009), a member of the US support team Navy that wintered at McMurdo Station in 1958, 1965 and 1969 .
