history

Terence Holler at Gods of Metal 2007

The band was founded in 1991 by singer Terrence Holler, guitarist Eugene Simone and drummer Adriano Dal Canto, who had previously played together in the band Zeus . The three of them recorded their first demo entitled Reflection of Sadness , and a year later the band expanded to include bassist Martin Kyhn and keyboardist Oleg Smirnoff. This line-up recorded more songs as a demo in 1993, which brought the band a record deal with the Limb Music Products record label in 1995.

This label released the debut album Seeds Of Rage in 1995 in cooperation with InsideOut Music , a company specializing in progressive rock / metal . Just like the follow-up album Headquake , published in 1997, it received good reviews in the specialist press and quickly made the band known internationally. In 1997 the band was able to tour with Angra and also perform at the famous Gods of Metal festival in Milan .

In 1998 the third album El Niño was released , which was again toured extensively. However, drummer Dal Canto and keyboardist Smirnoff showed signs of fatigue after the European tour with Threshold and Pain of Salvation , which is why Sean Henderson joined the band for Smirnoff and Dave Simeone for Dal Canto. The follow-up album Reverse was only released in 2001, which emphasized the Thrash component of the music more. After the album was released, the band performed again at the Gods of Metal Festival and then strengthened themselves with Roberto Proietti by a rhythm guitarist. In the following years bassist Kyhn and keyboardist Henderson left the band for personal reasons. The keyboard position was not replaced, but bass was played by Lisa Oliviero from the band Icycore .

With this line-up without a keyboard player, the band recorded the album Portrait Of The Abyss Within in 2004 , which was strongly based on the melodic-progressive Thrash of Nevermore , for example . As a bass player, Oliviero was always seen as a temporary solution and was replaced by John Crystal in 2005. In 2006 the album Neighborhell was released .

On April 20, 2007 the band released their seventh album, Blackenday . Guest appearances on the album have Ray Alder from Fates Warning and Nicholas Van Dyk from the band Redemption . Eldritch also played at the Italian Gods of Metal festival this year .
