Elef Sossidi

Elef Sossidi , also Eleftherios Sossidi (born May 4, 1913 in Hamburg , † April 20, 1992 ibid) was a German radio journalist .

Life

Elef Sossidi, who comes from a Greek family, studied law and political science in Munich , Breslau and Berlin . He was a PhD student at Reinhard Hoehn and received his doctorate in 1939 for Dr. jur. He then worked as an assistant at the Institute for State Research at the University of Berlin, headed by Reinhard Höhn. After the war he became a freelancer for the newly founded Northwest German Broadcasting Corporation (NWDR).

The Nuremberg trial of the main war criminals began at the end of 1945 . In May 1946 the NWDR began to send a report from Nuremberg several times a day ; The editor in charge was Peter von Zahn . Sossidi became one of the NWDR reporters. "In order to avoid any provocation by a name that sounded too strange and possibly too 'Jewish' for the German radio listener, Elef Sossidi had to report under the pseudonym 'Andreas Günther'." In 1947 he became head of the radio program Das Echo des Tages . Sossidi was friends with Gregor von Rezzori and, at his suggestion, worked on the development of the series Analysis of National Socialism in 1948 . He later became a foreign correspondent and wrote articles for the program Between Hamburg and Haiti . From 1952 Sossidi acted as deputy editor-in-chief of the NWDR. After the NWDR split up, he stayed with the North German Broadcasting Corporation (NDR). In 1974 he was promoted to head of the central editorial office of the main word department, retired in 1976 and continued to work as a freelancer for the NDR.
