The EWR AG is a power company in Rheinhessen , parts of the Palatinate and Hesse Ried , based in Worms . EWR AG is a largely municipal company in which Thüga (24.99 percent) and innogy (25 percent) also hold shares . Since the merger with the former e-rp GmbH, municipal shareholders have included the city of Worms, the cities of Alzey and Kirchheimbolanden as well as the Verbandsgemeinde Alzey-Land and Verbandsgemeinde Kirchheimbolanden and the Nieder-Olm association. The supply area is in Rheinhessen, parts of the Palatinate and the Hessian Ried.

EWR Netz GmbH, a wholly-owned subsidiary of EWR AG, is responsible for expanding and operating the electricity, natural gas and water networks. The sustainable operation of the networks and investments in the expansion are the basis for the safe, intelligent and innovative supply of the region with electricity, gas, water and internet.

history

The company was founded in 1911. In 2002 the then Elektrizitätswerk Rheinhessen Aktiengesellschaft (EWR AG ) merged with the energy and service division of Stadtwerke Worms GmbH . As of December 1, 2018, EWR AG merged retrospectively as of July 1, 2018 with e-rp GmbH in Alzey. The company name is still EWR AG. Since the merger, the headquarters of EWR Netz GmbH has been in Alzey.

Around the time it was founded, the owners were the city of Worms and the Rheinische Schuckert-Gesellschaft , Mannheim (later Rheinelektra AG).
