Elena Perelman

Elena Perelman , as an artist Elena Nahum Leroy , ( Russian Елена Перельман , scientific transliteration Elena Perel'man ; * in Leningrad ) is a Russian-Canadian mathematician and artist.

life and work

Perelman was born as the younger sister of the mathematician Grigory Jakowlewitsch Perelman in Leningrad, today's Saint Petersburg . From 1993 to 1998 she studied mathematics at Saint Petersburg State University with a Master of Science degree. She then did research at the Weizmann Institute for Sciences in Israel , where she received her PhD in 2004 from Anthony Joseph with the dissertation Quantization of hypersurface orbital varieties in simple Lie algebras of classical types . From 2005 to 2006 she was a Post Doctoral Researcher at the Carolinian Institute in Stockholm in the field of biostatistics , after which she worked as a systems developer until 2009. In parallel, she attended the Surkoff Art School from 2005 to 2009. In 2009, she moved to Vancouver and opened an art school for children and adults, a nonprofit that aims to improve the lives of those with autism and mental disorders through art, interaction and community support. She was the author and editor of several textbooks printed for universities and vocational training centers, and was an expert on mutual funds.
