Elena Radkowa Schekerletowa ( Bulgarian Елена Радкова Шекерлетова ) (born November 6, 1964 in Pazardzhik ) is a Bulgarian diplomat .

Life

She attended a German-language high school in her native city and studied law at the University of Sofia . She completed her studies with a master's degree. This was later followed by further training at the Max Planck Institute for International Law and Constitutional Law in Heidelberg . She also completed a course in European Studies at the European Academy in Berlin .

From 1990 to 1992 she worked as a legal expert in the office of the Bulgarian President Schelju Schelew . This was followed by a position as a consultant and then head of the cabinet of the Bulgarian Foreign Minister until 1993. She then went to the Bulgarian Embassy in Austria as an envoy until she moved to the Consular Directorate in 1996. In 1997 she was again employed as an advisor and deputy head of the Cabinet of the Foreign Minister.

In 1999 she was sent to Bonn as head of the branch office of the Bulgarian embassy in Germany . In 2002 she became Head of Department in the Europe 2 Directorate of the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 2004 she went back to Germany and became envoy and deputy head of mission at the Bulgarian embassy in Berlin . From 2008 to 2011 she worked again in the Foreign Ministry, where she headed the European States Directorate. In 2012 she became the Bulgarian ambassador to Austria. She held this office until 2016. From 2017 to 2019 she worked as a permanent secretary in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On February 27, 2019 she was accredited as Bulgarian ambassador to Germany.

Personal

She is married and has a son born in 1988. Elena Radkova Shekerletova speaks Bulgarian , Chinese , German , English , Russian and Spanish .
