Elfriede Gollmann

Elfriede Gollmann (born June 8, 1914 in Linz ; † November 18, 2007 there ) was an Austrian theater actress.

Live and act

She played her first roles when she was engaged at the Linz State Theater from 1935 to 1937.

Her career took her via Salzburg , Troppau , Gießen , Wiesbaden , Görlitz to Dresden . After the Second World War , in 1945, she returned to Linz from the bombed-out Dresden. Here, in her hometown, she played numerous leading roles of strong women such as Maria Stuart , Medea , Mother Courage , the madwoman of Chaillot and also Dürrenmatt's old lady .

When she received an offer from the Vienna Burgtheater in 1954 to succeed the deceased Maria Eis , she refused this engagement because of her first husband, who was seriously ill. She remained loyal to the Linz State Theater until her retirement in 1971.
