Eliane Blüher

Eliane Blüher (born May 18, 1928 in Marseille as Eliane Ailloud ) is a French translator , best known for her translations of the poems of Rose Ausländers into French .

life and work

Eliane Blüher grew up in Casablanca from 1929 . In 1945 she moved to Marseille, where she graduated from high school and lived until 1950. She studied English and French literature , Italian , Latin and philosophy in Aix-en-Provence . In 1950 Eliane Ailloud married Karl Alfred Blüher in Berlin . The couple lived in Leipzig until 1952, where Eliane Blüher worked as a translator and founded an illegal group in opposition to the Marxist interpretation of literature. In 1952 she fled the GDR and moved back to Marseille, where she completed her studies at the University of Aix-en-Provence and worked in school. From 1954 Eliane Blüher lived in Freiburg im Breisgau, where she worked as a high school teacher from 1954 to 1962. At the same time, she studied Romance languages , Arabic and philosophy there. In 1960 their daughter Dominique was born. After a stay in Spain from 1963 to 1964, she returned to Freiburg im Breisgau. In 1965 their second daughter Anne-Françoise was born. In 1970 she moved to Schierensee, where she again taught at a secondary school and a university in Kiel. Eliane Blüher has lived in Neuilly-sur-Seine since 1991 .
