Elias Christoph Heiss
Elias Christoph Heiß (* 1660 in Memmingen , † 1731 in Trunkelsberg ) was a German engraver.
Elias Christoph Heiß reintroduced the mezzotint developed by Ludwig von Siegen in Germany. He worked in Augsburg and achieved fame and fortune with his great so-called "theses", so that in 1729 he was able to buy the Trunkelsberg estate. His descendants carried the name Heuss and were ennobled in 1738.
One of his students was the engraver Bernhard Vogel (1683–1737).
