Elias Reusner

Elias Reusner (born September 8, 1555 in Löwenberg , Duchy of Schweidnitz-Jauer , † October 1, 1612 in Jena ) was a German historian.

Life

Elias was the son of Franz Reusner and his wife Barbara Fritschner. He was thus a brother of Nikolaus von Reusner . In July 1578 Reusner matriculated at the University of Wittenberg . He continued his studies at the University of Strasbourg and the University of Basel . In 1591 he became a professor of history and poetry at the University of Jena , where he obtained a licentiate in medicine on August 12, 1591. As a university lecturer at Salana, he also took part in the organizational tasks. He was dean of the philosophical faculty several times and in the summer semesters 1599 and 1611 rector of the alma mater . Reusner appeared primarily in the historical field of genealogy of nobles. He died in the plague that was rampant in Jena and a tombstone was erected for him in St. Michaeliskirche.
