Elias Wimmer

Elias Wimmer (born December 10, 1889 in Oggau am Neusiedler See , Burgenland ; † January 20, 1949 there ) was an Austrian politician ( CSP , later ÖVP ).

Life

Elias Wimmer visited after the elementary school , the five-year high school in today's Hungarian Sopron . He later took over his father's winery.

He did military service as a soldier in the First World War between 1914 and 1918.

politics

Elias Wimmer was elected mayor of Oggau in 1923. It remained so until Austria was annexed to Germany in 1938.

From June to December 1931 Wimmer was a member of the Federal Council for the CSP . He then moved as a member of his party to the National Council , in which he held a mandate from December 1931 to May 1934.

During the time of National Socialism , northern Burgenland belonged to Lower Austria . That is why Wimmer was elected to the Lower Austrian state parliament in July 1945 as a member of the Austrian People's Party (ÖVP) . When Burgenland regained its autonomy in October 1945, Wimmer also left the state parliament.

Also as an ÖVP member, he successfully ran for the office of mayor of Oggau in 1945. It stayed that way until 1948.
