Elin Wägner

Elin Matilda Elisabet Wägner (born May 16, 1882 in Lund , † January 7, 1949 in Rösås, Kronobergs län ) was a Swedish author , journalist and feminist .

Elin Wägner's publications of aesthetic literature deal predominantly with women 's rights, women's suffrage , peace issues, social issues and environmental issues. She belonged to the so-called Fogelstad Group, a women's organization that campaigned for the establishment of a community school for women on the Fogelstad estate near Katrineholm . Wägner is u. a. known for her commitment to women's suffrage and for being one of the founders of Save the Children in 1919 . From 1923 to 1936 Elin Wägner wrote for the women's magazine Tidevarvet . From 1944 she was a member of the Swedish Academy and holder of chair number 15.

From 1910 to 1922 Elin Wägner was married to the literary critic John Landquist.
