Elina Andriola ( Greek Ελίνα Ανδριόλα , also Eleni Andriola, born November 9, 1986 in Athens ) is a former Greek athlete in rhythmic gymnastics .

Vita

Elina started doing gymnastics at the age of eight and was part of the Greek national team between 2000 and 2008 .

At her first Greek championship as a senior citizen in 2001, she was able to secure the title straight away, displacing last year's favorite and Olympian Evmorfia Dona to second place. She also relegated her opponent to second place in three of four individual disciplines. Only in the tire discipline did she finish second behind Dona. With this success on her neck, Elina prepared for her first world championship, which she finished in the all-around competition with 21st place out of a total of 131 participating individual gymnasts. Since two sportswomen were convicted of doping in retrospect, their rank was corrected to 19. Andriola fulfilled a dream when she qualified for the 2004 Olympic Games . In the domestic games she reached the finals and finished ninth. The following year, the Mediterranean Games were in Spain and Elina won the bronze medal in the all-around competition. She was able to qualify again for the Olympic Games in 2008 but ended up in 21st place due to some uncertainties in her freestyle. A little later she ended her active career in top sport. Andriola is one of the most famous individual gymnasts of Greek origin.
