Elisabeth Enseling (* 12. November 1907 in Velen , † 5. January 1998 in Bonn ) was a German politician of the CDU and member of the German Bundestag .

Life

Enseling attended the private school of the Thuiner Franciscan Sisters , later the municipal business school and the higher evening school in Essen . In 1925 she began to work as an officer in the postal service in Darfeld . In addition, Enseling became a member of the women's committee and the main board of the German Post Association in the German Association of Officials .

politics

Enseling was already politically active in the Weimar Republic . In 1932/33 she was a member of the Essen city ​​council for the center . She was also a member of the Windthorst Association .

Between 1939 and 1945 she worked as a postal assistant a. a. deployed in the occupied Netherlands . On her return to the Netherlands after the partial surrender , signed on May 4th, she was arrested by British troops for carrying letters.

After the Nazi era , she joined the CDU in 1945 and was a councilor for the city of Bonn from 1964 to 1979. She belonged to the German Bundestag from April 28, 1966, when she replaced the deceased MP Gerhard Philipp , until 1969. In the federal parliament she was a full member of the Interior Committee and the Postal Committee since May 1966.

A street in Bonn was named after her.
