The film portrays the Swiss-American psychiatrist and death researcher Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, who - drawn from several strokes - lives in seclusion in the Arizona desert, waiting to die. It documents the life of the Swiss woman, born in 1926, who dealt professionally with dying and death in the USA and thus became known worldwide. In addition to employees and specialists, the triplets of Kübler-Ross, Erika Faust-Kübler and Eva Bacher-Kübler have their say in the film.

In 2004 the film was nominated for the Swiss Film Prize in the category “ Best Documentary ” . With almost 68,000 cinema entries in Switzerland alone, it is one of the 100 most successful Swiss films from 1976 to 2013.
