Elisabeth Karlinsky
Elisabeth Karlinsky (born on May 19, 1904 in Kasten , Lower Austria ; died on October 13, 1994 in Græsted , Denmark ) was an Austro-Danish painter and craftsman .
Karlinsky studied from 1921 to 1927 at the Vienna School of Applied Arts under Franz Čižek , Rudolf von Larisch , Viktor Schufinsky and Bertold Löffler . In 1925 she took part in the international art exhibition in Paris and in 1926 in the international exhibition of modern artistic writing at the Austrian Museum for Art and Industry in Vienna. In 1926 she received the Lobmeyr Prize for her " kinetic glass window", traveled to Paris for the first time and worked on Robert Haas' "Officina Vindobonensis" .
From 1928 Karlinsky taught on behalf of Erika Giovanna Kliens at the Elizabeth Duncan School in Schloss Kleßheim in Salzburg and from September 1928 at the Walden School in New York. In New York she took part in exhibitions at the “ Civic Club ” and designed displays for the Macy’s and Gimbel department stores . In 1931 she moved to Copenhagen, where she married the columnist and painter Hans Scherfig . In 1932 she had her first exhibition in Denmark, from 1935/1936 regularly participated in the exhibitions of the artists' association "Corner" and worked as a book and magazine illustrator. In 1953 she made the equipment for the World Women's Congress in Copenhagen.
