Elisabeth Lutyens
Elisabeth Agnes Lutyens , CBE (born July 9, 1906 in London , † April 14, 1983 there ) was an English composer .
Lutyens was the daughter of the architect Edwin Lutyens . She studied at the École normal de Musique in Paris and at the Royal College of Music in London, earned a living composing for radio and film, and was one of the first in Great Britain to use the twelve-tone technique for her compositions in the late 1930s .
In 1979 she was elected an honorary member of the American Academy of Arts and Letters .
