Elisabeth Sophie von Brandenburg (born July 4, 1589 in Berlin , † December 24, 1629 in Frankfurt an der Oder ) was a princess of Brandenburg and was successively married to Princess of Radziwiłł and Duchess of Saxony-Lauenburg .

Life

Elisabeth Sophie was a daughter of the Brandenburg Elector Johann Georg (1525–1598) from his third marriage to Elisabeth (1563–1607), daughter of Prince Joachim Ernst von Anhalt .

She married Janusz I. Radziwiłł (1579-1620), Prince of Birsen and Dubincky , Crown General and Captain of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, on March 27, 1613 in Berlin .

In 1628 Elisabeth Sophie sold her personal property , the lordship, town and palace of Lichtenberg in the Principality of Bayreuth to her brother, Margrave Christian von Bayreuth . Prince Janusz had acquired the rule in 1617 as a Wittum for his wife for 100,000 guilders from the von Waldenfels family.

Her second husband became Duke Julius Heinrich von Sachsen-Lauenburg (1586-1665) on February 27, 1628 in Theusing .

Elisabeth Sophie is buried in St. Mary's Church in Frankfurt .
