Elisabeth Stremlau (also Lisa Stremlau ; born April 22, 1949 in Haltern ) is a German politician ( SPD ). She is the full-time mayor of the Münsterland city ​​of Dülmen .

Life

After her high school graduation Elisabeth Stremlau studied for the teaching profession in primary and secondary schools and was followed for 38 years as a teacher employed, for example in Dülmen at the 2009 closed Johann Gutenberg high school and then at the Catholic Cardinal von Galen main school.

Since 2005 she was the local chairman of the SPD Dülmen. In 2009, at the suggestion of Angelica Schwall-Düren, she was awarded the Helene Weber Prize , an award from the Federal Ministry for Family, Seniors, Women and Youth for women who are politically active at the local level. The reason stated: "It promotes mutual understanding of different women's biographies and encourages women to bring their specific experiences to bear in social processes."

Elisabeth Stremlau is married and has a son, a daughter, a grandson and a granddaughter.

Mayor's office

For the 2004 mayoral election in Dülmen, she ran against the incumbent mayor Jan Dirk Püttmann ( CDU ), but lost the election. Since then she has been the second mayor of the city of Dülmen under Jan Dirk Püttmann. She won the 2009 election against Jan Dirk Püttmann with 55.3 percent of the valid votes. In the election on September 13, 2015, she was confirmed in office, this time as an independent candidate, with 71.2 percent of the valid votes.
