Elisabeth Tombrock (born November 14, 1887 in Ahlen , † April 23, 1938 in St. Bonaventure , New York , USA ) was the founder of an order.

Life

Elisabeth Tombrock was born in Ahlen in 1887 as the daughter of a baker, grocer and brewery owner who also ran an inn. She studied education and became a teacher in Mülheim an der Möhne .

On August 15, 1909 , after suffering from tuberculosis of the lungs and bones , she was miraculously cured in Lourdes . Moved by this healing, she founded together with the bishop and prelate of Santarém , Amandus Bahlmann OFM , a religious order called "Missionsclarissen", which was later expanded with the Missionary Sisters of the Immaculate Conception of the Mother of God . The official title of their organization is "Mother Immaculata".

She died on April 23, 1938 as superior of her order in St. Bonaventure NY (USA).

On November 14, 2004, the Ahlen friends' group "Kiek es drin von 1904" put a bronze plaque on the house where she was born in Ahlens Oststrasse 56.

In 1934 a Lourdes grotto was inaugurated at the Mülheim parish church of St. Margaretha to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the miraculous healing . This created a tradition that is still maintained today, in which the Mülheim community combines the memory of Elisabeth Tombrock's healing with a veneration of Mary .
